Department History and Profile
The Cashmere Fire Department was originally formed in the early 1900's approximately 1916. Horse drawn carriages and bucket brigades were the standard for fire fighting in those days.
In 1978, Cashmere Fire began providing ambulance service in coordination with Braun Funeral Home. The first ambulance was a 'Hearse' and was typically used as a load and go fashion. The Hearse would show up and throw you in the back and haul you off to the hospital. Emergency Medical Services has improved throughout the years, however, still relies on the load and go principal for our patients.
In 1993, Cashmere Fire began contracting with Ballard Ambulance. Did you know that every time you call 911 with a medical emergency a Cashmere and Ballard ambulance are dispatched? Cashmere Fire department is staffed with a group of EMT's to provide you with Basic Life Support (BLS) with Ballard arriving to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS).
Cashmere Fire responds to approximately 400 emergencies per year. We provide first response to over 50 square miles and 6,000 residents. We are often used as mutual aide for emergencies to other cities/departments in the Wenatchee Valley including: Leavenworth, Peshastin, Dryden, Blewett Pass, Monitor, Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan, Orondo and many more. We have also provided support to fires statewide and have even traveled to some of our neighboring states in the Northwest.

Currently Cashmere Fire is an all volunteer department. We meet every Monday night at approximately 1900 hours or 7:00 pm. You may also see us on other days of the week performing training operations, in local parades, or visiting the community. On Monday nights we work on maintaining our tools and equipment, perform training exercises, hold meetings, and much more. Feel free to come down and visit us on a Monday night for a station tour or free blood pressure check.
When emergencies are called in we are paged from our homes, work, or wherever we are. Cashmere Fire uses Monitor and Dryden Fire Departments to assist with all confirmed structure fires in our area. If the fire gets too big, then other surrounding departments may be called in
At Cashmere Fire we take great pride in serving you and the community to provide life safety, property conservation, and incident stabilization.
